To Moses it was the soul shaking “Go Forward!” command, and to his predecessor Joshua it was a stern, “Get Up!” followed by the Almighty’s probing question, “why do you lie thus upon your face?” (Joshua 7:10).
From these point blank references to those God called to lead His people, one thing is resoundingly clear: God expects action! Sitting around and lying on our faces is not going to get the job done. I understand that there’s always a time to pray and seek God, but the time also comes when we must Get up! and Go forward! – commands every good leader needs to hear now and then.
I think a lot of it has to do with us living in a place of constant expectation for what God will do next, and to never allow ourselves to settle into off-mode. Stay on stand-by thus ensuring that you’re always ready to follow the Lord’s lead.
