While visiting relatives in Grants Pass, Oregon we attended a great church doing a great work in the area and heard a great message. The pastor shared a little illustration that describes what the Christian Experience often becomes.
Often times, when we first start off following Jesus it’s like taking off down the runway reaching speeds from 0 -500 mph and then the sudden rush upwards to reach 40,000 feet. With lots of feeling, lots of adrenaline, and lots of excitement, you can literally feel the power surging in your life. It’s a wonderful thing.
But then something happens; everything begins to level out, and things become pretty much normal. You’re still soaring at 40,000 feet. You’re still cruising at 500 mph, and that’s just it; you’re cruising. The same power is involved to keep you up in the air, but you just don’t feel it.
So, how do you remind yourself of the reality of God’s awesome power that is working in your life, even though you don’t feel it? I would love to hear your thoughts.
