Council is a divine ordinance. It’s God’s way of keeping His people out of trouble and without it you WILL get in trouble! I have made the mistake of bypassing council in the past, and the temptation always looms, but thank God for lessons learned.
Today, I’m happy to say that I choose to surround myself with godly councilors. Requesting and heeding their council is a sign of true heart submission, and that is always a safe place to be in. I like the example of this in King David’s life…
1 Chronicles 13:1
“DAVID CONSULTED the captains of thousands and hundreds, even with every leader.”
Good move King David!
Some of the people in my life that I submit to and receive council from include:
- My wife
- My spiritual leaders
- My team members
I value the council and advice that these people provide, I need them, and I thank God for them. I choose to be transparent with those I’m submitted to, they always have access to me, and I’m never beyond their care. This keeps me safe.
Here are a few questions to consider:
- Who do you receive council from?
- Is it godly council?
- Are you willingly submitting to people that you should be submitted to?
