In a world of plentiful possibilities, where we find our identity is a matter of choice.

John 1:22-23
22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? 23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

Taking a quick lesson from the life of John the Baptist, he had his identify rooted deeply in Christ. He identified Himself in relation to the call of God on his life. His service toward Christ is what defined him.

There’s no better place to find yourself than in Christ. That’s where your life is hidden (Colossians 3:3), and apart from Him we can’t do a thing anyways (John 15:5). There are a lot of people looking in a lot of different places, each trying to “find themselves”, each searching for significance.

That search ends and begins when you find yourself in Him!

This very moment, if the same questions were asked of you as were John, how would you answer?

  • Who are you?
  • What do you say about yourself?

Hopefully, your identify is rooted firmly in Jesus. Hopefully your search has ended in Him, and yet you realize the search has just begun. May you continue to find yourself and discover the depth of His design for your life – may you too define yourself through your discovery of Jesus!

    Excellent word.

“In Christ” to me, means I’m in an intimate relationship with Him through the blood covenant.
    An everlasting relationship.
