There are many different views and opinions relating to the act of meditation. To some, it involves positioning the body in a certain way. To others, an emphasis is made on emptying the mind and finding inner peace. However, God’s method of meditation according to the Bible is the act of filling oneself. It is accomplished by filling yourself up with the Word of God, and releasing His power in your life.
This is God’s recipe for success and prosperity according to the promise given in Joshua 1:8,
“This book of the law (the Word of God)10 shall not depart our of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.”
The object of meditation is the Word of God, and the goal of meditation is obedience, which leads to prosperity and good success. As you continue to pray, fast, and seek God’s face, take time to fill yourself up with the word of God. Make meditation a central activity during your daily devotion.
The Hebrew word for meditation is “haga”, and it literally means to mutter to oneself, to ponder and to imagine. It includes the idea of speaking to yourself the words of God, and this is the primary way you fill yourself up with truth.
Here are a few scriptures you can look up today, and speak over yourself. Make an effort to keep these truths before you throughout the day. Read them several times, and carefully consider each word as you speak them over yourself.
Matthew 11:28-30, Matthew 16:13-19, John 4:13-14, John 8:12, Ephesians 1:3-7, Ephesians 2:1-10, Revelation 1:3-6
