You’ve officially crossed the halfway mark of this 21day fast. Every one of us will have had varied experiences along the way, but one thing that is the same for all of us is this: at the beginning of each day, including the one we are in right now, something was waiting for us. Mercy was waiting for us, and because of His mercy we can begin again.

Lamentations 3:22-23

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Your faithfulness.”

It’s one thing that you can count on every single day, His mercy is there; it’s new and it’s waiting for you before you even open your eyes. With the mercy of God before you, how can you fail?

Regardless of performance, His mercy is there to pick us back up again. During our fast we’ve needed the mercy of God too. When we’ve felt week, and in weakness may have even broken our fast; that’s not the time to feel shame and condemnation, rather that’s the time to once again call upon the mercy of God.

God knew we would need help, and He knew we would need mercy. That’s why He has made daily provision for these very things, and He invites us as His children to come before His throne and receive mercy again, and again.

Hebrews 4:16

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Notice the invitation to come boldly! Not in cowardice and false humility. No, boldly before His throne because we belong there. There, in His presence, before Him unashamed and without inferiority. There to partake of the very thing He knew we would need before we even existed, and so by the grace and mercy of God, once again… begin again.

Bonus:

Read Psalm 136 and notice the overwhelming theme of mercy.
