Loving greetings in the matchless name of Jesus!
I want to take a moment and share with you some of the things that are stirring in my heart for the month of February. The Holy Spirit has directed us to focus in on the “supernatural” this month, and in fact that’s a theme the Lord has given us for the entire year of 2014. We launched our first Supernatural Sunday this week and began imparting truths along these lines to Embassy of Hope Church in Sikkim.
On Sunday, one of the key portions of scripture we focused on was Philippians 1:19-20, where it is written,
“For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.”
We were drawn to the necessity of having an earnest expectation in our lives for the supernatural power of God. Paul spoke of his earnest expectation and attributed that living hope in him as the force behind which the circumstances would turn. Paul also highlighted the vital role the prayers of God’s people have, as well as his dependence upon the supply of the Spirit of Christ. However, prayer alone, and even the Holy Spirit alone aren’t enough. The power of prayer and the move of the Holy Spirit hinges upon the earnest expectation in every child of God’s life.
The expectation Paul had was that Christ would be magnified in his life. The word “magnified” is the Greek word megalayno– where we get the word Mega in English. The expectation was that Christ would be made MEGA! That is the basis of the supernatural; Christ being magnified. Like Paul, we have made this our earnest expectation as well.
We expect this not only in our lives, but for your life too! We pray February will be a month full of the supernatural for you, and that Christ would be magnified throughout your 2014!
With Love and for His harvest,
Mike Van Buskirk
