Last week I sent a team from our home church in Sikkim to check on some work that we’re doing in West Bengal. One of our Bible School graduates is laboring in a village area where there is very little gospel light. In fact, he pastors the only group of believers in a large area. The people are very impoverished and struggle for the most basic necessities. Many homes have no electricity or running water.
It is in this place that we are helping our graduate to construct a building for his congregation to meet in. Keep in mind, all the other homes and buildings in the area are temporary structures. Last year powerful winds blew many of the homes down because they’re made of mud and straw. The building we are constructing will be the only permanent structure in the area, and it will be used as a center for the gospel. We see this as a great victory for the Kingdom of God, and we’re overjoyed to be a part of it.
Here are a few pictures of the construction congress
As you can see, we still have a lot of work to do . We’ve just barely got part of the foundation down, pillars started, and part of a wall up. Previously we helped reconstruct the pastors home, which is currently made of tin. All total we’ve invested just about $2,000 into this project and we’re going to need a lot more.
I’m still waiting on some exact numbers for what it will take to finish the church building. We also want to help this pastor to dig a well on his property, which will be an added blessing to the community. Soon I will share more details with you. Please stand in faith with us. And thank you for being a part of what God is doing! Together we are making history.
With love,
