I once read how a very large and successful ministry began to get really focused on the ministry. They had big projects, big need, and they were making big projections for the future.
In the midst of one of their meetings, while they were rejoicing in all the great things that were happening; the leader of this organization noticed a figure in the shadows. There, on the sidelines, and past the crown stood a man. As the leader looked closer, he realized that what he saw was in fact Jesus.
Immediately he sensed in his spirit the error. They had left Jesus in the shadows. They were all so excited about what was happening, and they had all gotten so focused on ministry that they had forgotten what it was all really about.
Really, it’s all about Jesus. He is the center. He is the focal point. Beyond all the work, all the needs, and whatever else; He must be our greatest aspiration.
Like one minister said, “Perfect theology is: Jesus!” It’s that simple, 100% Jesus. Don’t leave Him on the sidelines of your life. Don’t allow anything to become bigger than Him, or take His place.
Great post, its true what you said, the work of the ministry can blind our eyes from the Lord of the ministry. Got to keep focused to keep effective.
Our out-reach can never exceed our up-reach…
Amen! Well said and a good reminder for anyone who is in the ministry… not to get so caught up in doing the Work but to focus on Him whom you are doing it for!
