Above, Beside & Beneath

The people God has placed in our lives can fit into three categories, and understanding where they fit can help us fulfill our responsibilities toward them. Those three categories are:

1. Those “Above” – these are leaders in your life. The men and woman of God that the Lord has made you accountable to and those you should be willingly in submission to.
2. Those “Beside” – these are your fellow laborers, team members, friends and peers that are beside you in your race. These are people that need your encouragement, and the ones you should actively exhort to good works.
3. Those “Beneath” – these are the ones you’re called to lead. The ones that God has given you the responsibility to train, disciple and raise up in the ways of God.

I regularly pray for those who fit into these three categories of my life. Those above are my spiritual leaders, my pastor and those I look up to. Those beside are my fellow laborers and the partners of Soul Purpose Ministries. Those beneath are the ones I’m called to serve and disciple; the people in our church, staff members and Bible school graduates, etc.

All of us should have, in our lives, people who should fit into each of these three places, and identifying them will have a profound impact on your life and ministry, I know it has mine.
