You are truly living when your spirit is alive, and your spirit is most alive when you are closest to the Source of Life. Life is relative to proximity. Distance is death. Remaining close to God, the Source of Life, is how we remain alive in Spirit.

Life ushers forth from God. In the beginning, “…the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7). The life of man depends on the breath of God.

As oxygen is to the natural man, so is God’s breath to the spiritual man. In essence, the breath of God is the Spirit of God and because of the nature of God, His breath is actually a Living Being. Wrapping our minds around the reality that God is so full of life that His breath is actually alive with personality is mind bending, but if God’s breath is God’s Spirit then God’s Spirit is the breath of life and in order to live, our spirit’s must breathe Him.

This is why your life in Christ depends completely upon the presence of the Holy Spirit. He, the Holy Spirit, is not some impersonal force. He is the very breath of God(17), alive with personality, and He has come to impart the life and nature of God to you(18). Learning to commune with Him is the key to living.

2 Corinthians 13:14

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God (the Father)(19) and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen.”

To commune with the Holy Spirit is to enjoy fellowship with Him, it is to be in partnership and participation with Him. It involves communication and social intercourse. When we engage in these activities our spirit’s breathe, and we live. Consciously commune with the Holy Spirit, and breathe deeply today.
