Every time I think about the showdown between Jesus and Judas, I’m amazed. Judas was such an unlikely betrayer. Outwardly, there was no cause for concern or indication that Judas was the one. He was the treasurer and the defender of the poor. None of the other disciples imagined the darkness that lurked in the heart of the one so trusted.
Judas was totally misunderstood; his heart and true character clouded.
This lesson speaks volumes. What appears to be often has little to do with what truly is. The glazed shiny outside could very well contain complete corruption. It makes you wonder doesn’t it?
Well, my job is to look inside my own heart. To search the deepest parts of me and to root out anything that doesn’t belong. I refuse to be the kind of person that looks good or sounds good, but inwardly has no depth.
What only God sees is what ultimately will be seen. There’s simply no hiding reality. If your heart is knit to His, it will become increasingly obvious. If not, eventually all will know.
