The opposite of stupid is smart, which means if you don’t want to be stupid then you have to do something smart. How do you like that logic?
Truth be told, a lot of folks don’t do little smart things and it ends up making them look really stupid. One of the smart things that I’ve made an effort to do in my life, which I believe has helped me stay away from stupid, has been to make myself accountable to leadership.
Upon my own request, and it won’t work any other way…you have to want it, I requested leadership in my life to ask some tough questions to help keep me accountable. Those questions looked like this:
- Are you keeping your heart pure? (Guarding your eyes and ears from evil?) (Have you been exposed to anything illicit in the last month?)
- How’s your walk with God? (What did God say today?) (Is your spiritual life up-to-date?)
- Are you above reproach financially?
- Are you being a faithful witness?
- Did you just lie?
This is just one smart thing every child of God should do. We should willingly make ourselves accountable to someone above us that we can trust. Ask yourself the tough questions, and request someone else to ask them too. Smart choices today will keep you from stupid mistakes tomorrow.
Remember: if you don’t want to be stupid, then do something smart.
I just moved to las Vegas and have been to a great church twice now, but I feel lost still during the week lately. LV is tough, but the Lord is faithful. I can count on Him to help me find someone to talk to….I will write these questions down and keep trying. Thank you brother:-)
