Mark 6:32 AMP
“And they went away in a boat to a solitary place by themselves.”
Jesus understood the need to escape now and then. Just Him and His disciples, alone and away. These escapes were essential to the ongoing success of the mission. Without these times, the whole “team” would have easily become overworked, and that would have hindered them from having maximum impact.
The “ministry” can only be as successful as the “ministers” leading it, and the success of every minister is rooted deeply in their ability to get away and invest time in themselves and those closest to them.
If the “ministers” family-life is failing, the ministry will inevitably suffer the consequences.
If the team is overworked and under rested, the ministry will reflect that deficiency.
Take it from Jesus, the One who knows, and plan on those special times; those essential escapes. I know I am, I refuse to lose my family and I refuse to neglect my team by not.
We have lots of work to do, and many years ahead of us. We cannot allow the need of the now to overwhelm us, sometimes we just need to step back, relax, breathe a little and then be ready to jump back in!
Maybe it’s time for a vacation!?
