Only free men can offer others freedom. Jesus made this clear in the statement He made, which is recorded in John 8:36,
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
True freedom is complete liberation, and can only be provided by Jesus Christ. He was without sin(34), and the only perfect expression of truth(35) our world has ever known. Freedom is found in Him alone as we continue in His word.
John 8:31-32
“…If you continue in my word, than are you my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
The process of total freedom requires continuation in the words of Jesus. His words lead to truth, and truth brings freedom. There are no short-cuts; just the day in and day out following of the Son of God.
Of course, there are alternatives. Man has devised his own methods, and the religions of the world offer their own ideas too. However, there is only one individual in the history of the world who offered Himself as the ultimate solution, and who also had the moral life and character to support his claim; that individual is Jesus Christ.
To enjoy this freedom fully, though, you must identify fully with the words and truths of the Lord Jesus in every area of your life.
Study the following verses and observe how they reveal different areas of your life and how you identify with Christ in each.
