The Son of God already having displayed immense humility by taking the step from heaven to earth, now humbles himself even further by stepping into the waters of baptism; to be baptized by his creation. And the humility of Christ was met by John who took upon himself the humbling honor of being the one to baptize Jesus. It was an act that Jesus called “fulfilling all righteousness“.
Matthew 3:15 AMP
“But Jesus replied to him, Permit it just now; for this is the fitting way for [both of] us to fulfill all righteousness [that is, to perform completely whatever is right]. Then he permitted Him.”
This event in the life of Jesus opened the heavens over Him. The Father announced His pleasure in His Son, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him to remain. Among other things which I’m sure can be derived from this event, one thing stands out tremendously to me. I see an intense display of humility, and I believe humility is one of the premier keys that open the heavens over someone’s life.
Humility truly is the heaven-opener! (It’s an eye-opener too). Not only will humility open the heavens over your life, but humility is the virtue that will keep the heavens open as well. It’s a powerful force that I’m committed to developing and maintaining.
