The Bible says, “The just shall live by faith…” (Romans 1:17). Living by faith then is the kind of life God intends for us to live. Rather than trying to reach a place in life where we don’t need faith anymore, (i.e. The American Dream), we ought to continually stretch ourselves and enter new dimensions of the faith life.
What makes all the difference is this: Living for others, because others will always stretch me. If my needs are met that’s great, but what about the needs of others? If I’m walking in divine health – Praise Jesus! But how about the people around me who are suffering with sickness and disease?
The needs of those around me demand that I live by faith. To be truly Christ-like is to seek to meet the needs of mankind, but I know that in my own strength I cannot. That’s precisely why I, the just, must live a faith life. Great faith is never limited by personal need. Great faith goes way beyond me. Great faith touches the heart of Jesus on behalf of others.
If you haven’t lived by faith, then you haven’t truly lived…period.
