We recently amped up the mission’s focus at our church in Sikkim, not that we didn’t have the focus before, but it wasn’t really incorporated into our church life as it is now. To facilitate this fresh missions focus, we’ve established the last Sunday of each month as a special Missions Day.
During our Sunday worship on this special day, we showcase a nation and a particular ministry in that nation. (At least that’s what we’ve done so far. God knows how we might do things in the coming months). This month, we focused on the Central Asian nation of Uzbekistan! We know laborers there, they sent us video footage, and the whole congregation received an Uzbekistan focus-flier encouraging them to pray and to give. We also received an offering for the nation of Uzbekistan, which we’re very excited about because it means Indian money is going into the nations for the Kingdom of God!
We believe such focus is vital because it takes us beyond ourselves; beyond Sikkim, and beyond India. It was amazing how few in our church had ever even heard of Uzbekistan; most here are more or less oblivious to the rest of the world. We want to change that. We want our people to have a global vision, which is the heart of God. Even thought there is a ton to do right here at home, we have to keep our sights set on “all the world”Â!
