We’re not called to merely maintain what is or has been. God does not send His people into the world to maintain something; rather we have been commissioned to revolutionize the world around us. Revolutionists are not into maintenance.
Basic biblical Christianity is revolutionary; the early church was a revolution, and the church in its truest form will still take on a revolutionary role in the earth.
The status quo is something that can be maintained, but not the church. The reason is simple: unless we’re taking ground, we are shrinking. If we ever stop, we will cease to exist. There’s too much happening in the earth, and things are changing to quickly for us to try and maintain what we’ve got. We must make a radical opposing offensive against darkness and worldliness. Only then can we truly revolutionize the world again.
