The child of God must take ownership of the place in which he lives. I live in Gantok, Sikkim. Gangtok is my city, and it belongs to Jesus!
I often hear my pastor mention that his whole county will be saved; that’s Lane County in Eugene, Oregon. That’s what it means to take ownership of a place. The devil can’t have my city, darkness can’t have it. No, it belongs to Jesus.
Another pastor I know of has declared his city a “cancer free zone” (Redding, California), and that declaration might now encompass sickness and disease in general. That’s taking possession!
Amos 4:7-8 says,
“…I caused it to rain upon one city and caused it not to rain upon another city; one piece of ground was rained upon, and the piece upon which it did not rain withered. So [the people of] two or three cities wandered and staggered into one city to drink water…”
I believe the city in which I live, Gangtok, is to be a city where the rain falls. A city of glory and outpouring. A city where others will come to receive blessing from Almighty God.
Gangtok is my city and it belongs to Jesus! Take possession of your city friend – possess it for the King!
