A few weeks ago I mentioned the launch of a new initiative; the Global Mission Fund. You can see the original post here. In that message I talked about the vision of helping the impoverished to generate income of their own. The basic premise is that empowerment is better than dependence.
In India, with so many needs, and many times with so little resources, we have to find ways to empower people. Otherwise we run the risk of them becoming dependent on someone else for everything, and that’s not the will of God. In our vast network of ministers and ministries, we want to do all we can to empower those God has connected us to. That’s the heart behind the GMF.
After I announced the launch of this initiative, one dear partner of our ministry responded with great interest, and expressed his desire to help. Steps are now being taken by him to help set up the GMF, and he even financed our first loan.
We loaned Pastor Sudhir the funds he needed to purchase the auto rickshaw pictured above, and a repayment plan has been agreed upon. As funds are collected and new projects are begun, great potential to empower many can become a reality. We’re thankful for this first project, and we look forward to what is next. We also look forward to sharing more with you as the GMF becomes further established.
