God is pouring His love and power into the world, and He’s doing it through His people. Though it’s not always easy, it sure is fun! This is a continuation of my post on living “The Poured out Life,” which I started a couple days ago. You may want to check out the previous post to get set up for this one.

As I mentioned before, there are three characteristics, which absolutely should not be applied to any believer. The first one is being at ease in our work for the Lord, and that one we’ve already discussed. Now I want to look at the second one, which is being un-emptied.

God said about Moab in Jeremiah 48:11, “…he has not been emptied from vessel to vessel…” For God, this seems to be a problem. That’s why in verse 12, God said He was going to send the tilters to break Moab open, so that he would indeed be poured out.

Here’s what I’m thinking…we need to be emptied, so that we can be filled. God wants to empty out of you and me all that He has deposited in us, then He wants to fill us up again. There is a divine flow: empty – fill, empty – fill, that all of God’s people should be experiencing.

The dangerous thing for a child of God is not being emptied…when that is the case, God may have to do like He said He would to Moab, and that is send the tilters. I guess a lot of things could qualify as a tilter; it would be anything God uses to tilt us. I believe God is very interested in getting out of us the good stuff that He has put in, He is so interested in fact, that He will do whatever He can to open you and I up.

So, how about it? How about being emptied from vessel to vessel? Come on, that totally describes our nature as children of God. It is our honor to live poured out lives, where we are indeed being emptied.

The final piece of description in Jeremiah 48:11 mentions taste and scent…we’ll check those out later and take a look at what it means to be unchanged.
