The walk of faith and the walk of the Spirit don’t exactly fit the profile of what man considers normal. For many it might look pretty funny when someone chooses to live this kind of life, and the Bible is full of examples of just such men and woman.
- Build a BIG boat for a flood when it has never rained before. I can just about hear the scoffer…”hey Noah, uh what’s that again, tell us what God said was going to happen?” ‘I told you! God said water was going to fall from the sky and flood the earth!’ ‘Hahahaha…”
- Go to a land that I will show you. Where’s that again? (Abraham)
- Give birth at 99 years of age. (Sarah)
- How about chasing a chariot through the desert…uh horses are faster than humans…hello? (Phillip)
- Go catch a fish with a coin in its mouth. (Peter)
- Picture a blind guy looking for a river with mud in his eyes. (Blind guy)
Take a closer look at Phillip (Acts chapter 8). Here’s a guy in the middle of the desert that decides to chase a royal chariot. What do you think went through his mind when he started running? It’s very possible that the chariot was cruising along, and horses are pretty fast. His mind and his body absolutely would have told him it’s impossible. But instead of listening, he just went for it! Because he did, Philip was able to lead a seeking soul to the Savior, and he experienced what few people in history have had the privilege of experiencing; he was translated about 30 miles from Gaza to Azotus.
Such experiences await those who don’t mind looking funny.
